The small island of St. George, Which is just off the coast of Apalachicola, is a born and bread Nowhere Floridians would consider "old Florida."
Unless the house is more modern looking for beaches That Appear on the island, still very Relaxed atmosphere and although you are just visiting, the locals make you feel quite at home.
Only one hour and Fifteen minutes from Tallahassee's capital, St.George's Island has long been a weekend retreat from politics and city traffic. This island has a state park with picnic and cooking facilities and walking distance from public beaches Wherever May you live on this island (Basically you walk Across the street). The island has one bed and breakfast type hotel in St. Louis. George Inn, and one more traditional hotels, Buccaneer, and a number of private homes rented That Can be fairly reasonable price.
A while back in August, I have a family member from California to live with me for a week. I decided to take him "to St. George so he experiences the warm water cans That Can you actually swim without a wet suit. We took the convertible down on Sunday afternoon, so We Can Spend time on the beach and then dinner so That Could he Apalachicola seafood before he WENT home.
Even on a warm August afternoon, state park beach is Almost empty. It was Almost like being in your private beach, except for Some WHO continue to wash the crabs on the beach at our feet. We hung out at the beach, got the sunshine and watching porpoises in the bay chasing Each other before We pack up to go look for food. Since St.George's Trust has restaurants to choose from, We drove around a bit to see the menu before We make our choices for dinners at the Blue Parrot.
Blue Parrot has two decks are not only outside, but the tent was promised an open and happy hour concert. That is pretty much what We need to know. We sat at a table on the top deck That looks more lower deck and tiki bar below. This Is Also visible on the water and sunsets. This is a beautiful view and the wind blowing from the bay and made to sit outside in the heat of August is quite convenient.
Menu filled with the regular fare of seafood from famous Apalachicola oysters to favorites Difficulties Poor 'stuffed crab. The menu includes lobster and surf grass Also acre land options. I chose to try the stuffed flounder and shrimp from the platter to steal Pls Some of my friends he was not looking. When the food arrived, it felt even better than it sounded on the menu. Crab stuffing just Had Enough spice to bring a sense of flounder without stinging or make sense too spicy. My cousin ordered fried shrimp lightly fried Were and obsolete, and they want a taste amazing.
I do not usually enjoy a lot of the fried foods, but I can not help but try Some shrimp since they want felt so good. Once satisfied craving seafood We Are, We decided to walk downstairs and drinks at the tiki bar (which is the only one on the island), and watch the band set up for outdoor concert on the beach.
After the sun sank Beneath the waves of the bay, tiki torches lit and the band started strumming his guitar and sing. Ranges from this island contemporary music and classic rock and country music island to throw a little island in a variety. The bar patrons dancing on the beach near the stage and sing along with all on their favorite old and new hits. And the atmosphere was light and fun and the perfect way to end a fun day at the beach. The band on their last set ended with a rendition interesting "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" as bars and restaurants started to close That Night. Because We have an hour drive back to town, my cousin and I decided to leave as well.
When We got back Across the bridge to the mainland, with the sea water was still dancing in my nostrils, I do not know why I did not Spend more time there Because I like the atomosphere so much. I vowed right then next summer That I Will Spend more time there in the beautiful island in my own right backyard. By Jodi Riley
